Facilities

Facilities at Bangour Trout Fishery include a new fishing lodge which has been built with full disabled facilities (special waterside parking, 2 wheelchair platforms) and a lounge/ washroom for the fisherman to relax and enjoy their lunch. A good selection of flies are available as well as basic tackle for sale/hire. Buffet meals can be arranged for corporate events (booked in advance) . Tea, coffee, soft drinks, crisps, sweets, etc, all for sale. Casting, fly tying and general tuition can be arranged.

The platforms and walkways have been removed and replaced (there are now 28 platforms and the dam bank, which allows around 33 spaces at a time, with 28 anglers the maximum, to allow movement between platforms), and the bankings have been cleared.

There is an office for permit sales and fishing tackle. New car parks have also been added.

The reservoir totals 12.5 acres of which around 7 acres are netted off and kept weed free. The reservoir has a good head of fish which includes wild brown trout which breed freely at the autumn. There are a number of large carp which were introduced in 1964 at around 1 1/2 ib which are now in the high twenties and can be seen cruising in the summer months. The reservoir is stocked weekly with rainbows,(minimum stock size 2lb) blues, goldens and tigers.
